This link shows John Mcwhorter talking about whether or not texting is killing language. He states that there is more to texting lingusticaly, cultrually than it seems. He also said that linguists have actually shown
that when we're speaking casually in an unmonitored way,
we tend to speak in word packets of maybe
seven to 10 words. John stated that it is usually more noticeable if people are in a group talking. It could be said that speech today that people use is much more telegraphic.
