Analysis of Twitter

On Mario Falcone’s Twitter he uses a range of languages. The site uses many different features, to help draw people in; they use the site as a way of people communicating with each other, and are a site that helps promote certain businesses and people through tweets and promotional photos.  Many people on twitter including Mario use ‘text speak’ which is the language used by those sending text messages on a mobile phone, but it’s the same on twitter.  There is also the use of ‘vowel omission’ which is where they have left out vowel sounds in textspeak and other technology communication, instead of’ people’ they use ‘ppl’ another example is Acronyms like’ lol’ which really stands for ‘laugh out loud’, this is used to shorten their speak with technology which has also affected our language as people use shorten words instead of the actual word. Some of language that is used on twitter are phrases that replace sentences, there is also no spell checking with what people have written and many people use punctuation in their own way. Most of the language used on twitter is colloquial as people come across very chatty.
On twitter they use Homophonic representation, Mario on his twitter used this on his twitter and tweeted ‘good morning…2nd night’ when he could of used ‘ second night’ but they choose to shorten their words, as they only have a character restraint on the social networking site which encourages more people to speak like they do on technology.   The audience is clear as it’s mainly adults and teenagers that are interested in Twitter. The main purpose of the social networking site is for the public to post and tweet their ideas and feelings online for everyone to see. It allows people to keep in touch, getting feedbacks on ideas immediately and helps share multiple points of views. Twitter causes many teenagers and adults to become obsessed with social networking, rather than communicating in life experiences with face to face communication. Twitter language also affects the way people write in school, colleges and work as people are spending time on twitter and picking up the language used on their.

Analysis of the guardian online

The guardian online has been designed and written specifically.  The web page includes many features, to help draw readers in. An example of a feature that is used throughout the webpage is the graphology as this is there to help support the persuasive language that is used. The layout of the page immediately shows that it is a webpage; the strip along the top of the webpage has been designed to be read in a specific way, as the strip with the different tabs have been ordered. They have been deliberately placed in that order to read from left to right, as they have made it the readers priority to read it in that order. One of the tabs along the top is called ‘women’ but there isn’t one for men, which shows they think there is more information that mainly women would be interested in. They have a weather section situated at the top of the page which has a destination already chosen which is London, as it’s the capital and they feel it’s where most people need to know the weather about.

The webpage comes across in a formal but is also colloquial. The audience is clear as it’s mainly adults that want to be kept up to date with the news that is going on. The main purpose of the Guardian is to inform readers about the latest news and updates that are going on around the world. The breaking news bar allows the website to be completely up to date, which is how the technology informs the language and instantly creates a purpose. The webpage has one main image as soon as you go onto the page, which is where the main headline is placed; it is also the first feature that draws the audience in to find out what it is about. The main story about the ‘vagina stadium’ on the webpage has been put in different coloured writing and is bold so it stands out more. The webpage could be consumed in multiple situations, people could read the text whilst travelling and using there tablets or laptops as the guardian website is quick and easy for people to read if they don’t have enough time.

Social networking site: Is Twitter really what its made out to be?

With Twitter becoming one of the world most popular social networking sites, everyone is questioning whether twitter is actually that good.

With facebook as competiton, Twitter needed to show they have upped there game and have new features that no other social networking site has. Im sure people who havent got Twitter yet are wondering what twitter is about and how it actually works. Twitter for those that dont know, is a whole collection of microblogs where people can post their thoughts and feelings onto the site through a post. Its an open social site where anyone is welcome to join, the tweets that are posted can be viewed through other sites like facebook, myspace, bebo or on your mobile via twitters website.

Evaluation of opening

what do you still need to find out?

I need to find out more facts and figures, and which social networking sites are the most used for example look at the amount of viewers that twitter, facebook and myspace get and compare them.

Are there any other ways you could use some of this information?

With the information i got i could use it as quotes or use the different points to argue against certain things, you could put the facts used in a list or a table to look back on.

Can you use even more of the sources to liven your piece up or can you use fewer and include more of our own idea?

I could include more of my own views on twitter as i use the socail networking site daily, so i know alot about it. I would use my own twitter as an example and incoorporate those idea onto the article.

hairspray review

Hairspray

Plot

Based in 1962 Baltimore, and Tracey Turnblad , a girl with big crazy hair and hopes to achieve her dream of appearing on a popular dance show which is the ‘Corny Collins show’ she gets to that stage but not everything is the way she wanted it to be. The 1962 based film also focuses on the fight against racial segregation which is led by a blonde haired Queen Latifah and its battle against racism and size-ism but will this actually be ended...

Review

If you’re into films that have already been done, then hairspray is a very updated and enjoyable film. Hairspray is a 2007 American musical film based on the 2002 Broadway musical of the same name, which in turn was based on John Waters's 1988 comedy film of the same name. It’s bubbly and slightly campy, and basically just good family fun, for everyone to enjoy.

The most notable stars, including John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer and Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, James Marsden who plays the most bubbly and happy character in the film! Plus Queen Latifah, Brittany Snow who has all stared in very recent and popular films, hairspray managed to compact as many stars as possible into their cheesy but enjoyable film. High school musical star, Zac Efron plays Link Larkin, turns out to be big haired Tracey’s lover. John Travolta takes the role of Edna Turnblad, Tracy’s mum (played by Divine in the 1988 original), and appeared in a latex fat-suit. This film is a difficult one, it’s like marmite you either love it or hate it!

Hairspray manages to mix realism with theatricality.

Speech

Many adults and students will agree with me that the idea of a school uniform is a waste of time. Every student should have their own say in what they want to wear to school, as they are the ones who have to sit in a classroom all day and work to achieve a good education. Wouldn’t you like to have a view on what you would want to wear every day?

According to a debating website, 30% of the public said yes to having a uniform and 70% say no, which clearly shows most of the public agree with my view. I’m sure parents have overheard or had conversations with their children discussing if a uniform is really appropriate. Most parents would say to their children how ‘adorable’ they look or how ‘smart’ they look, but really a uniform is nothing special at all its: dull, plain and doesn’t express anything that we would all like to show. I think that the expense of uniforms is overpriced, restricting and unnecessary. Especially those that have colour and style requirements for every part of the outfit, are not easy for many parents to afford. We would all like to spend our well earned money on things that are actually worth buying, so why is it a must to wear a uniform?

You will all agree that school uniform doesn’t express people’s true personalities. I think it’s more appropriate for students to wear their own sensible clothing to school than a plain, boring uniform that is only worn to one place, why don’t you spend your money on clothing that is suitable to wear elsewhere. I believe students expressive themselves through what they wear. They should not be able to wear uniforms because they need to express their own individuality and teachers spend too much time worrying about what the students have on every day and not enough teaching time, for students to actually learn new things.

I believe that Students do not have individuality when they have to wear uniforms. The students who attend the school also become rebellious, testing authority to see how far they can go if they have a uniform. I believe that it encourages more of a bad behaviour whilst being at school, when it could easily be prevented by getting rid of uniform. I certainly didn’t feel comfortable in a uniform, as everyone around me looked the same; the whole clothing wasn’t comfortable to wear which put me off of going to school, knowing what we had to wear.
