Many adults and students will agree with me that the idea of
a school uniform is a waste of time. Every student should have their own say in
what they want to wear to school, as they are the ones who have to sit in a classroom
all day and work to achieve a good education. Wouldn’t you like to have a view
on what you would want to wear every day?
According to a debating website, 30% of the public said yes
to having a uniform and 70% say no, which clearly shows most of the public
agree with my view. I’m sure parents have overheard or had conversations with
their children discussing if a uniform is really appropriate. Most parents
would say to their children how ‘adorable’ they look or how ‘smart’ they look,
but really a uniform is nothing special at all its: dull, plain and doesn’t
express anything that we would all like to show. I think that the expense of
uniforms is overpriced, restricting and unnecessary. Especially
those that have colour and style requirements for every part of the outfit, are
not easy for many parents to afford. We would all like to spend our well earned
money on things that are actually worth buying, so why is it a must to wear a
uniform?
You will all agree that school uniform doesn’t express
people’s true personalities. I think it’s more appropriate for students to wear
their own sensible clothing to school than a plain, boring uniform that is only
worn to one place, why don’t you spend your money on clothing that is suitable
to wear elsewhere. I believe students expressive themselves through what they
wear. They should not be able to wear uniforms because they need to express
their own individuality and teachers spend too much time worrying about what
the students have on every day and not enough teaching time, for students to
actually learn new things.
I believe that Students do not have individuality when they
have to wear uniforms. The students who attend the school also become
rebellious, testing authority to see how far they can go if they have a
uniform. I believe that it encourages more of a bad behaviour whilst being at
school, when it could easily be prevented by getting rid of uniform. I
certainly didn’t feel comfortable in a uniform, as everyone around me looked
the same; the whole clothing wasn’t comfortable to wear which put me off of
going to school, knowing what we had to wear.
